Thread: Windows Live Messenger....

Okay so my Windows live messenger doesn't work and im totally helples.

So this is what happens:

1. I Start the program. Wait for the log in screen and press Log In.

2. Wait as the blue and green msn dudes rotate.

3. It pops up an error message : Logging In on Windows Live Messenger cant be done right now. Try again later.
We can try to solve the problem, if you click the troubleshooting-button.
Error Code: 80048820
Extended Error Code: 80048406 (random translation)

4. Then I press the troubleshooting button.

5. It does the basic internet-connection test and comes out working finely.

6. I press the "fix" button.

7. The messenger icon rotates again and the goes back to the thingy where you need your email addres and password.

8. Back to the troubleshooting window: I press the link where it says: Find error code on Live Messenger help page.

9. I input the error code on the search: Then i select the "information about fixing the error 80048820"

10. Then I try all the different ways of getting the error fixed with no luck.


I have been using the program for ages now and this is the first time that im not able to fix this problem. I recently bought a new computer (about a month) and it worked on fine. Now im starting to think its cus of the computer cause it worked all the time on my old comp. I have tried re-installing it a few times = didn't work.

And I need the program for being in touch with my friends and planning my whole life! (addicted? )

SO: Can some computer wizard try to figure out how to get it back running? If ya need more details about the error just say so.

Tried that too. Didn't work. (It was mentioned in the different ways of fixing it.)

Tried all of those. Didn't work either. ;_;

If a simple reset did not fix this issue then what the issue is, is that another messanger app has taken the protocal from msn. I had this happen when using trillian. Basically what I did was uninstall msn and reinstall and it fixed it, have you tryed that?

@ Pirate - Checked dozens of times.

@ Kamikaze - Nope. Have tingled with all of those options.

@ Hi-Bird - It has given me that error code for about a month now. :/

@ Erico - Checked my date and time, were correct.

Perhaps their server is down
